Our Code and Standards suggests that all teachers “critically examine how my own assumptions and beliefs, including cultural beliefs, impact on the practice and the achievement of learners with different abilities and needs, backgrounds, genders, identities, languages and cultures” (p. 18). If we do not know how to identify those assumptions which have built our theoretical frameworks, it is hard to do the rest.
