Task: Planning for Guided Reading and for Teaching the Main Idea
Background
One of the key approaches to reading instruction in New Zealand is guided reading. In this activity, you will apply your knowledge of effective instructional principles to the planning of a guided reading lesson that teaches the comprehension strategy of identifying the main idea. You will also consider the appropriate learning intention/outcome and include a KC.
