Official Profile
Andersons Bay School is a U4, contributing primary school with a roll of about 300 children.
Andersons Bay School is both steeped in history and has a positive, future-focused approach. The school was originally established in 1858 and has undergone many changes since its original establishment while always remaining at the heart of the Andersons Bay community.
The school has excellent outside areas, learning spaces and resources to offer our current and future families. Nestled in picturesque surroundings, there are several large grass playing fields, tree areas and asphalted playing areas. These areas are used for play, learning and environmental awareness. The school has an indoor heated swimming pool which is used for swimming and water safety programmes for all our students.
Connections to local iwi and/or hapū
Nga Tahu is the primary iwi in the area, the school seems to be actively looking to build partnerships with local hapū – and is increasingly using te reo Māori and teaching through a lens of Tikanga Māori. The nearest marae is Otakou Marae, but at this stage, the school doesn’t yet have strong bonds with local iwi.
